As interior designers, one of our favorite parts about our work is creating spaces customized and retrofitted for our clients. This month we’re looking back at a few very special projects that boast specialty rooms, corners, and spaces.

Mauka to Makai

Mauka to Makai is one of our most creative projects to date, boasting innovative design choices and unique features at the request of our clients. One of our favorite rooms in the home is the third bedroom, which serves as an inventive multi-purpose room for both the homeowners and their guests. Thanks to the addition of a Zoom Room Murphy bed and compact drop leaf table, the homeowners can manipulate the space to function either as an office, guest bedroom, or sewing room, depending on the rising need.

Beachy Craftsman Retreat

When working with smaller homes, our team is always looking for creative ways to utilize as much space as possible. In our Beachy Craftsman Retreat project, we made use of an empty alcove along the upstairs landing to incorporate a compact workspace, complete with a desk and ample storage drawers. When tackling your own home remodeling project, remember to examine the existing layout for new ways to upgrade your space.

Lanikai Blue

Our Lanikai Blue project boasts more than just a beautiful, refreshed design; it’s also a thoughtfully designed kitchen that meets both the wants and needs of the homeowners. When speaking with the homeowners, we learned that they wished for added storage space, as well as a separate wine area. As such, we reexamined the layout of the kitchen and upgraded the back room with an extensive pantry area complete with shallow shelving for canned goods and smaller items. We also incorporated a large wine cellar-closet for the homeowners to house their favorite bottles and brews.

The Bay House

One of our favorite customized spaces can be found in our Bay House project, where we designed an enviable man cave for our lucky homeowner. We too were green with envy when envisioning this space, which features a distinctly Hawaiian wet bar and accompanying barstools, TV with surround sound and strategic soundproofing system, extensive beverage center and comfy lounge chairs. Who wouldn’t want to sit back and relax in this customized theater room?
